The Académie musicale de Villecroze is offering the first edition of a harpsichord master class combined with a practical research seminar entitled ‘Vater-Hemsch: a Parisian harpsichord maker at play’.
This master class will take place at the Académie musicale de Villecroze from Monday 10 to Friday 14 November 2025.
A final concert will be given by the young artists on Thursday 13 November 2025, at 8.30 pm, at the Académie musicale de Villecroze.
The selected candidates will be invited to work with Pierre Hantaï on a selection of masterpieces or lesser-known works from the 18th-century French repertoire that reflect contemporary musical production on the instrument which will be displayed at Vilecroze during the master class.
The participants will be able to present pieces of varied character taken from the harpsichord books of the following composers*:

- Louis-Claude Daquin (1692-1744)
- Jacques Duphly (1715-1789)
- Armand-Louis Couperin (1727-1789)

- Louis-Nicolas Pancrace Royer (1703-1755)
- Nicolas Séjan (1745-1819)
- Simon Simon (1735-1787)
- Johann Schobert (ca.1735-1767)
- Jean-François Tapray (1738-1822)

The Académie musicale de Villecroze, which is committed to musical patronage, supports young talent by offering selected candidates master class courses, accommodation and meals on site. Only transportation to the Les Arcs-Draguignan train station or Nice-Côte d'Azur airport is the responsibility of the participant. We then organize shuttles from the station or airport to the Académie in Villecroze.
To apply, you need to fill in an online application form and provide supporting documents (e.g. curriculum vitae, recordings or letters of recommendation, taking care to name each document with your first and last name).
Applicants living abroad who are unable to finance the full cost of their plane ticket may apply for travel assistance to cover part of their transportation costs.
These applications, reserved for foreign students only, will be examined by a committee.
