Jan de Winne teaches traverso, chamber music and the study of treaties at the National Conservatory superior in Paris as well as at the Brussels Conservatory.
He specialized in baroque flute with Barthold Kuijken, after graduating as a musicologist and art historian at the University of Ghent.
He assisted the greatest early music ensembles (including Il Fondamento, Salzburger Barockorchester, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra) to focus on the formations of which Philippe Herreweghe conducted, before founding Il Gardellino, chamber music ensemble with which he publishes recordings devoted to Telemann's cantatas, trios with pianoforte by J. Haydn, concertos by Boismoirtier, quartets by CPE Bach, etc.
His activity of making baroque and classical flutes makes him a musician very knowledgeable on all facets of instrumental practice, past and present!
