Christian Lardé was born on 3 February 1930 in Paris.
He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris where he was awarded first prize for the flute and chamber music (1948 and 1951). His career kicked off at the age of nineteen when he worked as a solo flautist for the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin. Two years later, he was awarded second prize at the Geneva International Music Competition.
He performed in his first concerts in 1956 in the States and Canada, two countries he continued to perform in on a regular basis throughout his career. In 1969, he was appointed flute professor at the Conservatoire de Montréal. In 1970, he was appointed professor of chamber music at the C.N.S.M. and the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where he continued to teach until 1995.
His solo career took him as far as the US, Canada, Korea, Japan and across Europe. Displaying a great interest in contemporary music, he has produced flute pieces for Taïra, Françaix, Casterède, Bancquart, and many others. He has performed internationally as a soloist alongside his wife, the harpist Marie-Claire Jamet, and as part of the Paris Instrumental Quintet.
He teaches at the Académie musicale de Villecroze in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2000, 2007 and 2009.
